Disney Hotels vs Off-Site Hotels
The real trade-offs between staying inside the Disney bubble and choosing a nearby hotel.
We have stayed both on site and off site, and we do not think one is automatically the right choice. Disney Hotels can make the trip feel easier and more immersive. Off-site hotels can save a substantial amount or give you a room setup that works better.
Why stay at a Disney Hotel?
Location is the obvious advantage, alongside Disney Hotel benefits such as Extra Magic Time where included. We also value being able to walk back into the hotel without feeling as though we have left Disney completely.
Why stay off site?
Price, space and flexibility. Val d’Europe in particular can work brilliantly, and some nearby hotels offer larger family accommodation or facilities that would cost considerably more on site.
How we choose
We compare the actual price difference against walking or transfer time, room capacity, hotel facilities and how much time we expect to spend away from the parks.
